Benefits of Athletic Camps.

The days of camp isn't cool are over. There are many athletic camps throughout the country that aren't just canoeing and shooting bows and arrows. In the last few years, more and more sport specific athletic camp programs have been developed to make S-A’s better at what they do. Attending an athletic camp offers you many different opportunities that you may not be aware of, aside from the obvious benefit of learning some additional skills.

Athletic camps offer many benefits aside of getting out of the house for a week.
  • Camps are fun. While everone wants to get better at their sport, attending a summer camp should be fun and you should enjoy meeting new players and making new friends along the way.
  • Give you exposure to instructors who may be more skilled than your HS coaches and who are able to teach you new skills and drills. While your HS coach may be a good person and a good coach, they may not have the skill set required to really teach you the skills you need to be a better player.
  • Allow you to gain exposure to players in your state or region. If you are trying to gauge your athletic talent, going to a camp may give you the answer. How you perform athletically against competition in camp will give you feedback on your skill level and what you may need to work on to get better.
  • Keep you sharp in the off-season. Since many camps are held in the summer, they give you a chance to work out at your sport when you may not want to or may not be able to. Ever try getting 10 players together for a pickup basketbal game?
  • Give you a chance to participate every day. If you just spent your last HS season riding the bench, maybe you need to get back into the swing of things. Camps are all about participation and you won't find yourself sitting around wondering if you will play or not.
  • Can make your athletic resume look better to college coaches. If a college coach sees you have attended multiple camps, this will tell them that you are serious about working on your skills and improving your game. As an added bonus attending a camp gives you new potential references that you may be able to pass on to college coaches.
